Blue House Inspections, LLC is owned and operated by Katie Ackerman — me! I’m a life-long builder and detailed analyst. If I’m not inspecting homes, I’m probably working on my own. I enjoy renovating our 1927 Dutch Colonial (the “blue house!”), although my wife and two younger children are probably tired of the constant construction.

I grew up building pole barns and other farm construction. As an adult, I obtained my Master of Public Administration, specializing in sustainable development, from Portland State University. While I was a policy wonk for a while, I knew I wanted to return to active, physical work, and home inspection is a lovely way for me to use my skills and knowledge in both construction and data, analysis, and writing.

My passion has always been helping people — and I think every person has the right and capacity to learn about their home. It isn’t rocket science; it’s home science!
